Bratislava
“Design has to work. Art doesn’t.”
Bratislava is the capital city of Slovakia & a city full of art. But the first thing I suggest you do when you visit is to try their cheese dishes. The locally sourced cheese here is simply divine! So cheese and desserts – hit that first –

Now that priority is met, it’s time to explore the city. 😀
We did an open deck city bus tour around the town. I rarely enjoy these but in this little town – it was the perfect way to explore the city’s hotspots. The city tour buses stop at the Bratislava Castle for an hour, giving you enough time to explore the Castle.

And if you want to stay back on the grounds of the castle: just lay on the grass or enjoy the city view, you can always take the next bus. You don’t have to compulsorily hop on the same bus after an hour.
You could also rent a bicycle to explore the main square and the areas surrounding it.

You can spend the rest of the day after the city tour at the main square. As you explore the tiny stretch, you will find admirable artworks almost around every corner. And for me, that is the beauty of this city.

What I loved about the main square are the tiny shops that it has. They have such rare curios you’d like to take back home. The kind of curios you’d find here – you probably won’t find them anywhere else in Europe!
There are also these summer markets set up in the square where you can find something for everyone to take back.

It also has a very lively weekend scene where a lot of people from nearby cities head to Bratislava just to party with some A-grade food and beer.

Spending a day or two in Bratislava is more than enough for you to be able to cover most of the city. Alternatively, you could also spend just the day here and head back to Vienna (The closest metro city from Bratislava, just an hour by road and costs 10 euros ) for the night.
