Zagreb

“Gently gently the constellations aligned.”

Zagreb was on our itinerary only because we really wanted to go visit the Plitvice Lakes National Park (Click here for the blog) and Zagreb was the closest city to the Park.

But oh boy, the one day we had to explore Zagreb – was a very pleasant surprise! I am going to split this day into 3 segments – Stay, Do & Eat.

Stay

We stayed at this Airbnb and it had an attic-like feel to it. It was super clean and so cozy it made us take an afternoon nap on a vacation! It’s very affordable and close to nice restaurants and places of interest. It helps you cut down on the cost of traveling. Here are some pictures of the apartment and the link to the listing – http://www.airbnb/Zagi

P.S. – The host is a darling!!

Do

My most cherished memory of Zagreb was a visit to The Museum of Broken Relationships. It was late in the evening and we were just walking around the city then I pulled up Trip Advisor to check if anything is open at 8 pm. And this was the only place of interest that was open. So without thinking much, we decided to go check it out. And I ended up falling in love with a place that was essentially an art display of broken relationships. Have a look at some of my favorite displays here –

Two must do things to do when you are here –

  1. You will want to write something about your broken relationship in the book at the center of its exhibit. Immediately you and your story are part of the exhibit <3 which is a precious feeling and if you have more time to spare, please also read some.
  2. Make sure to check out the store in the museum because they have a lot of cool quirky stuff that you’d love to take back home. You can buy a hardcover book with pictures and stories of all the displays that have been put up in the Museum. Or cards meant for break ups.. OR a bar of chocolate..

If you are here on the weekend, you can check out the local farmer’s market which consists of; a lot of delicious food stalls, some amazing music or live bands and fairy light setting 😀

Eat

You have to try out this Mexican place when in Zagreb. It has such a cool pirate ship kind of deco, a very courteous and friendly host, and lip-smacking Mexican food!

The name of this place is Karaka Pirat.
